Small collection of papers of an author and historian of Portland, Oregon. Includes: drafts for O'Donnell's book "Portland : a historical sketch and guide" (with Thomas Vaughan), 1976; correspondence about the book, 1976-1981; and research notes. Also includes: copies of correspondence, articles, reminiscences, excerpts, diaries, and genealogical information regarding early Oregon pioneers, including Jonathan Keeney, Andrew Jackson Keeney, W. B. Mealey, and Samuel Laughlin; and a letter, 1972, regarding Indian artifacts in and around the Seufert property in The Dalles, Oregon.

Terence O'Donnell was born in Portland, Oregon in 1924. He received his Ph.D from the University of Chicago in 1950. He studied modern history at Trinity College in Dublin from 1954 to 1956. After a year of work in Germany, he lived in Iran for 14 years. Tehran, Isfahan, and Shiraz were the centers of his employment as an English teacher, Fulbright lecturer, Peace Corps instructor and farmer.
